1. Candied Sweet Potatoes

The classic potato recipe can be addictive as it has a ‘feel good’ taste that can bond very quickly with your brain. Below are the ingredients:  

Ingredients                         

6 large sweet potatoes, unpeeled

4 tsp margarine

4tbsp water

25g brown sugar

1/2tsp salt

-Guide-

  1. Using a scrub, clean your sweet potatoes while gently scrubbing to remove soil and dirt
  2. Add your potatoes in a cooking pot and add warm water until they are fully covered. Cook them for 30 minutes under medium-low heat. Pierce the potatoes with a fork to check if they are well cooked. If not continue cooking until they are ready
  3. If ready, drain the water and set them aside to cool
  4. Peel the skin with a knife. Place them on a chopping board and reduce them into ½” pieces
  5. In a large skillet, add your margarine, sugar, salt and water and heat the mixture and mix properly. When the mixture becomes smooth and starts bubble, add your sliced potatoes.
  6. Stir gently for about 3 minutes then serve

 2. Sweet Potatoes Fries

If you have never had a taste of sweet potato fries, you don’t know what you are missing. The delicacy leaves you craving for more. But the secret to a tasty sweet potato fries is proper quantification of the spices. You do them wrong, and you end up messing the entire menu.

Ingredients

1 pound sweet potatoes (chopped in ¼” chunks)

4tbsp olive oil

5 garlic cloves (minced)

1 tsp sea salt

1 tsp paprika

1 large yellow onion

1tsp chili powder

60ml water

-Guide-

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet. Add your sweet potatoes, and stir them until they are fully coated with the oil. Cook for 4 minutes un-interrupted under medium-low heat
  2. Add salt, and onion and stir to avoid sticking until the onions and potatoes attain an even brownish look
  3. Add your paprika, garlic, and chili powder and stir the mixture properly for two minutes. Simmer for another two minutes
  4. Add 60ml of water and simmer for 8 minutes.  Serve as breakfast with egg, bacon or sausage

3. Coriander Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Coriander roasted potato delicacy boasts of its creamy, nutty flavor, which invigorates your taste buds. Once you have the first bite, you can’t get enough. The taste is so addictive, so make sure you prepare enough.

Ingredients

1 lb sweet potatoes

3tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp coriander seeds

3 tbsp plain yogurt

½ tsp ground cinnamon

¼ thinly sliced chile

¼ tsp Pepper

½ tsp sea salt

1tbsp fresh lemon juice

¼ cup crumbled Feta

-Guide-

  1. Peel your potatoes and cut them into ½” thick pieces. Clean them and set aside
  2. Heat your oven to 425 o F. As the oven heats, crush your coriander seeds with a heavy pan
  3. Place your potatoes in a rimmed baking sheet and toss with pepper, coriander seeds, oil salt and cinnamon
  4. Roast for about 50 minutes and turn them when they are halfway until they are tender.
  5. Serve in a platter. In another small bowl, add your lemon juice and yogurt and whisk until they are properly mixed.
  6. Mizzle over your potatoes and sprinkle with Feta

4. Sweet Potato Hash

When you run of breakfast ideas, sweet potato hash could be a great pick for you. The dish pairs well with protein rich foods and have an irresistible taste. But you shouldn’t be limited. You can also enjoy the delicacy as lunch or dinner treat.

Ingredient

4 unpeeled sweet potatoes (medium-sized), chopped into bite-size cubes

2 stalks of celery (cubed)

7 tbsp olive oil

3 cloves of garlic (minced)

White onion (chopped)

2 tsp sea salt

½ tsp ground black pepper

Green onions for garnish (chopped)

-Guide-

  1. Sauté your onions over medium heat. Add your potatoes, celery, pepper and salt. Stir for one minute
  2. Simmer and cook for 20 minutes. Keep stirring to avoid sticking
  3. Add garlic, and increase the heat to high. Stir for 4 minutes until the potatoes turn brown
  4. Serve and garnish with green onions
