You know you want it, but you also know it’s very rare. Here are some soulmates in the Black diaspora
As we continue to watch Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith’s open marriage and all its secrets and nuances unfold, it’s appropriate to take a look at other celebrity Black power couples who do maintain strong black love in these times of madness.
The tea may continue to get spilled on the Smith couple, but here are some celebs you probably didn’t know were married or had Black partners.
Denzel Washington
The Oscar-nominated and Screen Actors Guild award-winning actor, producer, and writer consistently find time in between set and post-production work to admire his beautiful wife, Paulette Washington.
The lovers met on set and have been married since 1983. Paulette admires her husband’s innate romantic nature and Denzel continues to thank her for being his grounding.
Sometimes the secret behind a good Black king is an outstanding Black Queen.
Denzel credits his wife and marriage as a huge motivation for her continued work as a black filmmaker and writer. Through Paulette’s eyes, he can envision the greatness she sees for him!
Teyana Taylor
Teyana Taylor is probably one of the most underrated actors and singer-songwriters of our time! She dabbles in dance, and hip hop, rap, and R&B and she stays authentic and innovative in all she chooses to do. And Sis has one of the most sculpted bodies to make it to various platforms and small screens.

She enjoys expressing her goofy and light-hearted personality while filming but also gets inspiration from her Brooklyn Nets star husband Iman Shumpert.
When she suavely popped her way through Kayne West’s Fade music video, she almost gave the world a heart attack with her insane moves and Shumpert was right on the sidelines and joined in!
What a time to be alive where you and your partner can look stunning together!
Gucci Mane
Gucci Mane has taken a step back in his active music presence, still producing and creating content behind the scenes. But only hip hop fans and Love and Hipe Hop fans know about the wonderful wedding he had to Keyshia Ka-Oir!
They had a stunning fairytale wedding and captured the eyes of even more fans. As seen on the VH1 hit show Love and HipHop: Atlanta, the Atlanta native goes hard for his queen and visa versa.
Keyshia has remained loyal and talks through all issues with her man, with a hard no BS attitude. A true queen in her own right that gets down to business!

Janelle Monae and Tessa Thompson
Janelle Monae only recently became open about her sexuality and the Q.U.E.E.N. singer-songwriter has established a solid career in this growing industry.
Her petite frame, outlandish and creative styles have landed her on covers of major magazines and alongside great artists such as Erykah Badu!
Her budding relationship with Thor: Ragnorok and Creed actress shines through in their art and in private.
This world should do more to highlight, normalize, and appreciate black relationships of queer individuals!
Janelle Monae stands fearlessly against those who may still critique her craft and now her lesbian relationship!
Over here, we got your back lovely lady!
None of these celebrity couples have reached the level of having a Red Table Talk like the Smiths, but there are still tons of love going around! Black love in this day in age when everyone has an ‘opinion’ and tries to deter people and break people up, there are still folks who stick together and remain tight!
Seeing stoic black couples with long-lasting and loyal relationships destroys the narrative of a broken black family! And we as a society need to see and have media platforms display more accounts of powerful love stories for Black people and other BIPOCs.
