Liberia, the oldest independent country in Africa celebrated its 172nd independence day, Friday July 26 2019 with pomp and pageantry. Among dignitaries that graced the occasion were the Presidents of Guinea, Alpha Conde; Ivory Coast, Alassane Quattara; Senegal, Macky Sall and Nigeria’s Muhammadu Buhari.

Incidentally, a man carrying firearm into the independence day celebration venue was arrested and being investigated.

The current president of Liberia is the former famous footballer George Weah.
