It had been reported that the Trump’s immigration officers were going door to door this past week in major US cities oftentimes without warrants to question, search, and arrest suspected undocumented immigrants.
The first Mexican American to be elected in New York State, and the first openly gay in office, Councilman Carlos Menchaca, District 38, Brooklyn, New York City, said about the raid:
This [raid] is about whitening America. And this is coming from the top of government, by a white man,” he said. “This is a white man saying our country needs to be white and it needs to be whiter and we need to remove the people of color.”
