What you need
- 425g of baked beans
- 4 tbsp. olive or coconut oil
- Three garlic cloves minced
- One large chopped onion
- One hand full of French beans reduced into small pieces(green)
- One hand full of fresh finely chopped thyme
- White pepper 1 tbsp.
- Three medium-sized tomatoes
- Curry powder 2tbsp.
- 3 tbsp. Tomato puree
- Two grated carrots
- 1 tbsp. paprika
- One green chili (sliced)
- Salt
Lemon flavored barbecue Chakalaka
What you need
- Two zested lemon (medium-sized)
- 3tbsp barbecue spice
- Three diced tomatoes( large)
- Two diced onions(medium)
- Three minced garlic cloves
- 2 ½ tbsp. ground pepper
- 4tbsp olive oil
- Minced ginger 3cm
- Salt
Guide for simple Chakalaka
- Place a cooking pot in a source of heat and put your cooking oil
- Add your onions and garlic and chili. Cook them until they are crisp
- Add your French beans and stir for two minutes
- Add your carrots, thyme, paprika, curry powder, and white pepper and stir for the spices to incorporate well. In case your pot seems dry, you can add some water and simmer it for 5 minutes
- Add salt, your tomatoes, and puree and cook for two minutes
- Stir and taste for flavor consistency. Add salt if needed
- Drain water from your baked beans and add them in the pot
- Stir and simmer for about 3 minutes and remove it from the source of heat
- Serve hot or cold
Guide for lemon-flavored barbecue Chakalaka
- Put your olive oil in a cooking pan and place it on your cook stove over medium heat
- Add your onions and stir it until crisp
- Add your garlic and ginger and cook it for about 2 minutes
- Put your tomatoes and barbecue spice and stir for 2 minutes
- Add your ground pepper, and salt then stir again and taste for flavor consistency
- Add your lemon zest and cook it for two minutes
- Ready to serve
Serve while hot or cold with rice, samp, or crusty bread.
